Backing

The backing fabric needs to be 4-5" wider than your quilt top on all 4 sides to properly be placed on the quilt frame. Example: if your quilt top is 40 x 40, your backing needs to be 44 x 44 inches. If your backing has seams we prefer that they are horizontal to roll up nicely on the rails. Horizontal is not a requirement but just a preference.

Pressing

Press the quilt top seams flat and to one side or open and be sure all seams are sewn with no loose stitches. Press the backing seams open to reduce the bulk and to improve the look and feel of your finished quilt.  Please use 1/2" seams if piecing your quilt backing.

Quilt Top

Please square your quilt top and backing before sending.  This ensures everything sits on the machine square.  Mark the top of your quilt top with a pin or piece of paper to ensure it is loaded onto the frame in correct direction.  Please DO NOT pin or baste your quilt.

Prepping

Please be sure your quilt is free from lint, threads and pet hair.  We recommend taking a lint roller to the quilt top before sending.

Photos

Once your quilt has been completed, we will take photos of your quilt and text or email you. Please feel free to use the images however you like, but if posting on social media, please credit us for the quilting and photos.  If you do not wish for our quilting process to be posted on social media, please let us know.

Mailing your Quilt

MP Threads is located in Anaheim, California.  Please fold the top, backing and batting separately and place in a plastic bag before packaging in an envelope or box.  When mailing your quilt to us, please be sure to get tracking number.  The quilt will be sent back with tracking and will be charge to your final invoice.  We are happy to use your preferred shipping method UPS, USPS or FEDEX to send your finished quilt top back.
